| What is Chainmaille? Chainmaille is a ancient form of making flexible large metal sheets using rings. It has in the past been most commonly used in making armour but is also used in scaled down versions to make some beautiful jewellery! There are any different weaves available, with combinations also making the number huge. What does ID mean? ID is short for Inner Diameter. In chainmaille, there are two important measurements for individual rings: the wire size, and the ID of the ring. These together give you the AR of a ring. What does AR mean? AR is short for Aspect Ratio. The AR of a ring relates to the wire size and the ID. The AR needs to be correct for the weave to fit together properly. |
